VETERAMA: the Evergreen in October
• VETERAMA expects a record attendance
• the greatest European market for vintage parts
on October 11. – 12. 2008
at the Maimarkt Fairground Mannheim
• a variegated program and unique exhibits
• the international attendance is growing
The traditional VETERAMA opens the gates on October 11.–12.
2008 at the Maimarkt Fairground, Mannheim for the 34th
time already.
VETERAMA is the greatest European market for Veterans
and Classics with more than 4.000 exhibitors and 45.000
visitors. And deservedly so, because the VETERAMA managessuccessfully
to span between parts and hobbyist market, complete vehicle
exchange and entertainment for decades.
A concepts that works well - also in this year. The Old-Ford-Friends
will exhibit an original race car, which will be seen
in Germany for the first time in 45 years. That vehicle
has won 108 world records and international best perfomances,
all acknowledge by FIA. However, the Old-Ford-Friends
will disclose the secret which car this is, on the VETERAMA.
A no less interesting focal point event will be shown
by the Schweinfurt Automotive Academy. They will impressively
demonstrate their sheet and bodywork methods, to spark
interest of young people for a career as restorer.
The non profit educational network “yourmove ”
will be present at the VETERAMA for the first time. Young
visitors, but certainly the new blood VETERAMA exhibitors
too, are cordially asked to participate building a Soapbox
Race Car, life on stage in Hall 2.
Ideas for building historical Soapbox Race Cars will be
accepted in advance and will be forwarded to “yourmove”.
Also worth mentioning is the commitment of the “Lebenshilfe”
They will draw 4 top-class vintage cars and 1 Heinkel
Scooter for the benefit of disabled people.
Who will offer the most interesting exhibit is debatable.
Because in case of cars, as well in case of motor bikes
there will be much shown. In the open-air ground, a motor
bike dealer with restored and un-restored Indian bikes
from 1911 to 1916 has secured himself on of the most demanded
places in front of the exhibition hall.
The marked place for complete cars will be the meeting
point for youngtimer” (modern era classics) scene.
Some exhibitors will recreate the lifestyle of the 60’s,70’s
and 80’s. International attendance at the VETERAMA
will come from countries such as Austria, Switzerland,
Poland, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Italy and
England. They will bring vehicles and spare parts from
country specific makes like Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, MG or
Skoda.
The VETERAMA one-off model car for 2008 is a ruby coloured
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL from Schuco. This 1:87 scale model
is, as always, a limited edition which will be available
at the VETERAMA only.
The most sought after exhibition spaces on the VETERAMA
where fully booked two month earlier than in past years.
Merely on the back lot of the fair ground or on the market
place are some spaces available for late bookers. Since
2007 the organizer listed a considerable increase of exhibitors
and visitors. A survey shows, that visitors of the VETERAMA
take a average journey of 250 up to 500 kilometers. The
respondents praise the diversity of the offerings and
the charisma of the event throughout.
The VETERAMA is the barometer of public opinion of the
whole branch and in October 2008 it will be finally evident
if VETERAMA is heralding the turnaround to get away from
the anonymous internet trade
